Higher Computing focuses on specific topics from the Standard Grade course and takes these topics to a further level of understanding. The course is made up of three units:
• Unit 1: Computer Systems – An understanding and knowledge of how the computer works.
• Unit 2: Software Development – Developing programming skills from Standard Grade and introducing Standard Algorithms.
• Unit 3: Artificial Intelligence – Introducing the concept of independent machines and robots that can learn and react in a certain environment.
During the course the pupils will have to complete one NAB per unit. Furthermore, there is also a Coursework Task that contributes forty percent to the overall mark of the course. The examination is one paper which challenges the pupil’s knowledge and understanding of the course.
